Anime Iwai 2018

The Nerds Know team had the amazing opportunity of being apart of Anime Iwai Orbit in November 2018 as special entertainment/panelist guests for the show. Over the course of the weekend we hosted: Disney Sing-A-Long, WTF Japan (18+), Cos-Box, Destiny Islands Gameshow, Oh Japan: What have you done, LGBTQ+ in Japan, My Hero Academia Photoshoot, & Bad Trivia for Weird Prizes. All of the panels went off without a hitch and most, in not all, of our panels rooms were close to capacity in seating!

Our highlight event is our South Florida exclusive event: Cos-Box! Cos-Box is a competition where contestants, who can either work alone or on a team, create costumes and/or props using only the materials that we provide in our mystery boxes! The event had a prime spot on Friday at 5pm. Along with our amazing contestants (we had roughly 40 participants & 10 costumes), we also had an amazing panel of judges! The judges for the event were: Athel Artistry, NSCosplay, & our returning favorite judge Paladin Mabel!

But enough about us, let's talk about Anime Iwai! Anime Iwai is an anime convention situated in Northern Broward County. Their special guests in 2018 included: Paul St. Peter (voice actor), Krystal LaPorte (voice actor), VOCAMERICA (Western Vocaloid concert), Shaken not Stirred Burlesque, Open House Studios, 3000 Brigade, Moshi Moshi Watermelon, and Nerds Know.

The convention was bustling all weekend long with attendees hunting for ribbons, attending events, cosplaying, partying (responsibly), and of course just having fun! If you haven't checking out Anime Iwai, we highly recommend that you add it to any future fall plans!
